Born 1961 and raised in Dubuque, Iowa, to a middle class family. Teaches language arts to male adults in a local state prison since 1997. Loves Shakespeare, naturally, but in the novel genre relishes Theodore Dreiser above all others. Other favorites include the Bronte sisters, Twain, Melville, Chesterton, Hardy, and Solzhenitsyn.
